Two things about “the” Angeli:
1. I am going to be one of the greatest Filipino writers and scholars.
2. I am going to be wealthy and financially free.
I feel the need to talk about myself, because this is my blog. Every book has an author behind it, thus, behind this blog is a writer aspiring to become the best.
To talk about myself, I will answer some of the slum book questions I remember from my childhood.
The slum book was a major hit among kids during the 90s. And I am one of those kids who begged their parents to buy them one. We purposely ask each and every one of our classmates to answer our slum books so that we could find out more about our crushes. (Laughs)
I am Marie Angeli Syjueco. My family and relatives call me Mariel or Maye. My grade school and high school friends call me Angeli or Jehllai. And my college friends and colleagues call me Marie.
Apparently, I started my professional career being identified as Marie Syjueco, though in my articles I use my whole name in the byline.
However, I am re-launching myself with the “screen” name Angeli Syjueco, because I now realized the value of having a “branding”. This defines my identity, and how I package, present, and sell myself to other people.
I live in Malabon City, Philippines. I am born on July 31, 1989 in Manila. I’m turning 21 this year. My father is half-Chinese (if you’re wondering about my surname) and my mother is a Filipina mestiza. You bet I’m pretty. (Laughs)
I have two handsome brothers. One is an incoming BS Psychology student in the University of the Philippines-Diliman, and the other is going to be in Grade 4 this coming school year.
I graduated from De La Salle University-Manila with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Philippine Studies major in Filipino in Mass Media.
My favorite color is red.
I have a turtle collection. Also, I collect bus tickets, thinking that one day I would make a work of art out of these. (Laughs)
My first love is God. This is the usual answer of kids who doesn’t want to admit who they love; or perhaps the more appropriate term to use is, who they’re infatuated with.
But kidding aside, yes, I love God above all. He has always been my number one source of strength. And despite all the criticisms I have on the church and the priests, my faith remains strong. And I never fail to see how God continuously showers me with His blessings.
My first kiss is… Secret! I don’t want to talk about it! (Laughs) I’ll leave that to keep you intrigued. :)
I have a crush on my boyfriend. Of course! But I also have a big crush on John Lloyd Cruz and many others. M2M… Many to mention. (Laughs)
I also have girl crushes. Number one is Kate Hudson. And I definitely feel “kilig” when I see Maricar Reyes on TV.
I know you’re thinking I might be a lesbian or a bisexual, but sorry to disappoint you, I don’t have an identity crisis. (Laughs) Although there are times that I think about that. (LOL)
Moreover, I am just the boyish-type of girl, sporty at that. I play basketball. I also play volleyball. And I just recently fulfilled my dream to train in boxing. There are many external factors which resulted to my being a tomboy, but we need not enumerate them. :)
My favorite hobby is sleeping. When I have a free time at home, I go to sleep. When I feel sad or angry, I sleep. Sleeping is healthy and it’s also a good escape. (Laughs)
I also love watching movies. It’s a family favorite. I love music. In fact, I also know how to play the guitar.
Love, for me, is not blind. (LOL) Love is that strong feeling that makes your heart beat fast. Then you can’t stop smiling. And now that I am having a hard time defining love, the next thing I’m going to say is… Love is subjective. (Laughs) Words are not enough to explain what love is. You’ll know it’s love when you feel it. :)
Right now, my motto in life is “There’s nothing I can’t do.” Like what is said in the movie Alice in Wonderland. “One thing is impossible, only if you believe it is.”
I hate pretentious people, “plastic” people. That’s why I do my best to be true to myself.
Dedication:
You’ll know more about me and what’s in my head through this blog. I hope you would become one of my avid readers. I will do my best to make my posts more interesting. But just to remind you, I am writing this blog not only to entertain people; I’m writing for myself. :) Nevertheless, enjoy reading!
